OK,

this hwinfo thing is not working to well either:

thomas@thomas-laptop:~$ hwinfo --log /home/thomas/Desktop/hwinfo-log
thomas@thomas-laptop:~$ hwinfo | hwinfo --log /home/thomas/Desktop/hwinfo-log
thomas@thomas-laptop:~$ hwinfo | less

[1]+ Stopped hwinfo | less

I have uploaded the log file. Please tell me which piece of hardware is malfunctioning and which stress test you propose to validate it. Really, my hardware is just working fine as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately the flashrom tool does not work either, so I do not have an easy way to reflash the BIOS. Otherwise I would certainly reflash it with u-boot to see if there is any difference. I have reflashed the BIOS with the latest version provided to me by Acer.
