Can you reproduce this problem using linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname
-r) from ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev?

Please test playback (headphones, speakers) and capture with model=thinkpad. (You can also try the following models: olpc-xo-1_5, ideapad)

and how do I do that?

Add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:

options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad

Then reboot, etc. To test the next model, just replace the model and reboot.

Headphone jack WORKING NOW!!!
HOWEVER, the built in mic is not working. Only the external mic works (opposite as when no option was added to the alsa-base.conf) (I tried with all the three models Daniel T Chen suggested -> same result for the 3)
