Hi,
I also have a ALC861 based integrated sound card:
lspci -vv | grep -i audio 00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)
aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC861 Analog [ALC861 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: ALC861 Digital [ALC861 Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
The sound works ok, but not the mic input. (It can be heard in the speakers but I can not record it, or use it with skype).
I am eager to try: sudo apt-get install module-assistant sudo m-a update sudo m-a prepare sudo m-a a-i alsa
But in case it breaks the sound all together, I would like to know first how to reverse it if it does. Anyone knows the procedure?
Thanks,
Seb.
