@Raymond thanks for that. I am currently reading through this http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio.txt .

Not with the box ...agin...I was earlier..now I'm 50 miles from it...but as and when I implement a fix I will come back, report how I fixed it and update this bug report.
