Same problem here with a Intel 3945ABG device on a Vaio VGN-SZ2M.
I cant' find a file like /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200 or /etc/modprobe.d/ipw3945.
I also try to load wireless module "sudo modprobe ipw3945" but get an error: "FATAL: Module ipw3945 not found."

btw... wireless connection works fine and in Gutsy status led is working.
