This anoying bug keeps happening on Ubuntu 19.04 Disco. I have two DELL monitors connected via DisplayPort, and when I powerup my workstation with the screens off (via BIOS alarm), the screens are black. However, I verify that text consoles keep working. So I log in and run systemclt restart display-manager to restart the whole display subsystem, and keeep back the graphical logging screen.
Anyone have idea why this happens ? Reading the comments, looks that is years old and is independent from the GPU.
