Err, is this the output in the console of the given command ?
this is totally not what I expected ...
in a console, type "sudo killall hald", then, type the command "sudo hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes" then wait for the messages to stop (many should come out). then plug your hard drive, and copy what is printed since then in the console.
