Copying files from a windows box to a xbmcbuntu box or same box with straight Ubuntu 12.10 (dual boot) behaviour is that some files copy, then a file is created with 0 bytes and the process stalls. Cannot stop the file operation - pressing the red button results in it going grey but not going away.
Deleting the 0 byte file and recopying works for a few more files then it stalls again.
Currently, it is only happening on starting a new file - that is, one or more files are copied, then it stalls.
