I can confirm that choosing another filesystem during install:
10,2 gb [b]ext3[/b] and use as: "root filesystem" "/"
509 mb swap swap
does work out with the Ubuntu 9.10 altenate install .iso + kboot bundled with it

using an upgraded petitboot.
