Scott: For many purposes, dailies are not "just as good" because they don't live forever. Some processes regularly run instances and need to have an AMI id which will not suddenly disappear. I would like to see Ubuntu release AMIs much more frequently, especially after bugs that cause problems for folks running the latest AMIs (like #683379).
