I encountered that no url bar existed on both my FF on kubuntu 11.04amd64 bit and on my FF on kubuntu 10.04.02amd64 bit PCs. Though the FF on kubuntu 10.04.02 amd64 bit has an X run per day, it has not slowed in performance like the 11.04amd64 bit PC.

Toz found that I had cropped in a typo "kernal" instead of "kernel" when I was amidst building kubuntu 11.04amd64 bit. Admitted, I never could remove or reconfigure that to get the wrong input out of the repositories. An effort to remove the two lines and save as given below: Make the correction and the update should work again.  The entry in the /etc/apt/sources.list file. I did a terminal Code: gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list ,,,, I think I did a delete the line(s) where kernel is mispelled, then save the file. ... but I did not go to the Software Sources menu item, go to the Other Software tab, and uncheck the entry that is mispelled.
