Unfortunately, when I go into "Software and Updates" - "Additional Drivers" I am unable to change to the 340 driver. I can check the radio button and Apply Changes - it will show the progress bar and complete but it will then show either the 390 driver or the Nouveau driver as checked. Rebooting from that point confirms that 390 or Nouveau is selected. In other words I can't load the 340 drivers (at least through the GUI, I'm not knowledgeable enough to do it any other way).
