Bug Description
When Alef comes after another letter and joins to it, it makes a sharp edge which is almost a 90-degree angle (like با). This form is a bit rough at the bottom. This looks worst when Alef attaches to one of ب or پ or ت or ث or س or ش, because in these letters (when they are joined to Alef), there is no curved part. On the contrary, when Alef joins e.g. م or غ, there is some curvature in the other character and the sharp edge is less problematic.
I suggest to change the joined form of Alef when attached to the first group of letters I mentioned above. You can make the bottom part of Alef like an upside-down n; I mean, you can add some curvature at the bottom-left of it, just where Alef attaches to the previous character.

For clarity, would be able to approximately draw the suggested change, as this would make it easier to communicate (the calligrapher behind the Ubuntu Arabic doesn't speak English).
Perhaps the easiest way is to grab the screenshot above and open it in Gimp. Then copy and paste the existing, and go over it with the eraser and eg. a red paintbrush. (Or do the same with vectors in Inkscape).
