Hi Paul,
But I'm not sure if the bug actually occurs on platforms other than OS X ... So it needs to be tested on a Mac. There "mac in the cloud" type services where you can rent a Mac virt and ssh / VNC into a Mac in the cloud for only a few dollars per month. I could also test any fixes you make if you send me the repaired font files.
I agree about the desire for unit tests, but if we can fix it for now, it may stay fixed for some time and that will help a lot of people. :-)
