For a little bit of background:

Icons for the currently released versions are grey-scaled Tango icons (http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Library), I've included the source SVG in the bzr tree (in data/icon-src/). When I created these only one resolution existed and I generated a png sized at what I've found most were using at the time. There were no official android ui guidelines for icons yet at that time.

I would like to stick with Tango icons since they did a lot of thinking about UI metaphors, user-experience type of work, etc. However, as Rodja noted, times have changed and we should try to have nicer resolution-independent icons.

If anyone is interested, you have the SVGs in data/icon-src/ and the guidelines on developer.android.com. This would be an easy first contribution!
