follow the instructions regarding the opensearch plugin from here: http://synapse.zeitgeist-project.com/wiki/index.php?title=Plugins/Configuration and replace the search engine with wolfram alpha.
you can use for example one of this search engines http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=wolfram
i hope this is clear enough. if not open a question in the 'Answers' sqction here in launchpad.
