Hmm...I can change the text color of it, as well as the background color behind the floating bar (turns out it becomes transparent when the window loses focus so you can see the color behind it), but I cannot change the background color of the floating bar itself.
On a side note, I just took a look at the source code for Pantheon Files, and there at lines 81-101 seems to be a similar section of code where it is called instead a "MarlinViewOver
