Pantheon Files / Marlin file properties (in bottom of window) are white on grey

The file properties tooltip-like things (replace that with whatever they're really called...) are white on light grey and are fairly hard to read. Knowing that Salience is based off of elementary, which is what Pantheon Files is used to, I think we should have this.

Look in the bottom right of the attached screenshot and you'll know what I mean. :)

I will investigate this more in-depth after I replace my desktop's 11.10 partition with elementary OS Luna.

Actually, just noticed this is also a problem in Marlin. Perhaps a fix for that will also fix this.

Looking at lines 82-128 of http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~marlin-devs/marlin/marlin-0.5/view/head:/src/View/OverlayBar.vala , it appears that the element in question is referred to as a ".floating-bar", and is set by default to have a light gray background color. I'll have a go at trying to implement a fix in gtk-3.0/apps/marlin.css.

Hmm...I can change the text color of it, as well as the background color behind the floating bar (turns out it becomes transparent when the window loses focus so you can see the color behind it), but I cannot change the background color of the floating bar itself.

On a side note, I just took a look at the source code for Pantheon Files, and there at lines 81-101 seems to be a similar section of code where it is called instead a "MarlinViewOverlayBar".

Okay, ran into the same problem trying a recent build of elementary OS Luna on a LiveUSB in Pantheon Files, but there the light gray background never goes away, even when the window loses focus. At this point, I'm kinda stumped for now.

If it's a problem with the ISO/LiveUSB, why don't you try installing
pantheon-files from the elementary-daily ppa and trying it from there?
