While in in column-mode and if you opted to double-click on files to open them you need to double-click on folders to view their content.

The correct behavior should be that in column mode you click on folders once to open the column, and then double-click on files to open them.

In addition, sometimes contents don't show up (not sure if I should file this as a separate bug)
