The red X on the name just means that it is read-only (i.e. you cannot
change the name of the router). Is the route set up as a standard
samba server with shared folder(s) on the hard drive? If so, the branch lp:~jeremywootten/pantheon-files/fix-network-browsing, which may be
merged soon, may help.

Title:
File Manager cannot open Network drive
Status in Pantheon Files:
New
Bug description:
I have an ASUS AC66R Router with a USB-connected hard drive. I can
access this hard drive's files from my TV and from my Android devices.
I was also able to access it with Pear OS v7. I recently installed
Elementary OS (admittedly it is the unstable version) and while the
File Manager can see the router OK it will not open the hard rive and
folders. The Router name has a red X on the folder icon. I tried
Smb4K also, but it cannot mount the device either.
