I think the problem might be related to the DEB installers, and our
dependencies DEB installers. I do not think the dependencies listed on the
OpenShot download page contain libmp3lame, which would explain the problem.
In theory, on Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04, my previous suggestion would work just
fine. However, since you used the DEB installer, it is unaffected by
installing those packages. I'm not sure the best solution to this.

Option 1) I could update all of the DEB installers (which is generally a
nightmare)
Option 2) You could install ffmpeg, libmp3lame, mlt, etc.... yourself, which
can also be a nightmare
Option 3) You can upgrade to a newer version of Ubuntu

So... it looks like there is no simple fix for this (as far as I can tell).
=( I'll keep thinking about it though.
