Hello Cenwen,

Thanks for finding the default MLT package in Kubuntu 12.04 was too old a
version for OpenShot.

After upgrading the MLT framework to the latest version 0.8.8 and also
installing the ladspa-sdk package to get rid of the error message 'No
LADSPA plugins were found! Check your LADSPA_PATH environment varable.' the
reported repeatable crashes at the end of the playback of one or more
photos are gone and also the freezing of the program is over.

Unfortunately OpenShot now crashes unpredictably. While playing around
placing 3 photos in a series on track 1 and track 2 and playing back the
photo sequences for 10 minutes made OpenShot crash 3 times in different
situations.
The OpenShot project I created was for 1080p@30fps.

Any suggestions as how to assist you in debugging to find the problem are
welcome.

Greetings, Ger
