I've had it with the lack of response on this and am looking at switching to LibreOffice. I've installed it on a test machine from PPA and it looks really good. Then I tested against this bug. Not only is the bug still present, I could not get the work-around to work!

However, someone in the Debian bug cited above says that the fix was actually backported from libreoffice/1:3.3.0~beta3-1, yet I am using libreoffice-1:3.3.0-1lucid1 from the PPA. Have to keep an eye on this. Maybe some competition will be a good thing.
