One thing I forgot to add was that I'm suspicious that a Java based program called Family search indexing might be involved in causing some king of corruption as two other of my hard drives that I use it on have developed similar/same problems as this one. One is Ubuntu 9.10 and other is 10.04. Other thoughts is it's a fluctuating power supply causing all the errors. Not sure what's going on.
