Bug Description

MAAS version 2.6.2 (7841-ga10625be3-0ubuntu1~18.04.1)
MAAS configured to use Focal for commissioning.

Commissioning fails because the 00-debug-install-kmods step fails:

++ uname -r
+ sudo apt-get install -qy linux-modules-5.4.0-14-generic

Hi, is 00-debug-install-kmods a custom commissioning script? It doesn't seem to be a builtin script provided in MAAS. If so, it needs to be updated to work with newer distros.

Also please note that commissioning with Focal is currently not supported and may not work, as it's a development release at the moment.

No, it is not a custom commissioning script, it's part of whatever MAAS 2.6 does during commissioning. We have never added custom commissioning scripts to MAAS in our lab.

Also, I realize that commissioning with Focal is not supported, as Focal is not released. However, part of this is to test Focal and catch bugs like this before we get to the release, because I will expect that our hardware partners can begin commissioning and deploying hardware using Focal the day we release Focal.

Ok, thanks for the poke ack.

Turns out it WAS a non-standard script. I think it was added by newell when he was testing httpboot on our system. But I've deleted the errant script and while I can't re-test this to be sure since the Focal kernels have disappeared from the Commissioning kernel option, I'm pretty sure this fixes it.

Also, sorry if I sounded snippy, wasn't my intention, I know we have never added commissioning scripts to MAAS in our environment, and made the incorrect assumption that this was just something MAAS provided, but as it turns out, it was added by someone we gave access to the system, as pointed out in comment 3.
