Bug Description

I am using Linux Mint 17 RC Cinnamon. I reproduced this bug on the same computer running Linux Mint 16, as well as another running Linux Mint 16. They were all in the same LAN.

When I add a printer I open the "Printers" application. I then select "Add" printer, then "Network Printer", it then finds my Epson WF-3540. I then choose the IPP network printer via DNS-SD. It searches for drivers, and finds "epson-inkjet-printer-201212w" driver, and attempts to install it. I have attempted this multiple times and it freezes at around the middle of the progress bar. If I manually download the .deb files from epson's website and install them with gdebi it works.

I can confirm that this also happens with the Epson WF-3530 under Mint 17 RC 64-bit Cinnamon. Using GDebi also works. I'm connecting to the printer via wireless. The WF-3530 is an all-in-one and I installed the scanner software direct from Epson. The scanner worked before the printer sw install.

Sorry. I should note that I had no problem installing the printer driver in Kubuntu 14.04 64-bit.

Hi,

Please give the output of "ubuntu-drivers list".

Also, can you reproduce this issue with Ubuntu 14.04 (not Kubuntu).

Can you run the tool from the command line to see if any errors come up?

The command is "system-config-printer"

It seems to be a problem on Epson's download server.

Looking at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/1073949 it seemed like it happened before.

There aren't any errors with system-config-printer. The driver works fine if "deb http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/op/stable/debian/ lsb3.2 main" is added to apt, and the driver for my printer (Epson WF-3540), epson-inkjet-printer-201212w can be downloaded and installed with apt-get. The apt-get method works fine.

@Steven
After many failed attempts including adding the deb line to my repositories I finally got it working. Thanks mucho. I think when I tried it before the "lsb3.2 main" part at the end was left out. That must be why I received an error message "lsb not configured"
