Auto-maximizing all large windows is especially annoying when you start "vncviewer", since the VNC server has a fixed geometry. If that size is smaller than the client screen but large enough to be auto-maximed (75%), the VNC viewer will feature a useless black border around the actual content.
Even worse: when that window is un-maximized, the new size (in my case) is smaller than the VNC size, so I have to manually resize the window to show all content.
