This bug just started to occur on my Ubuntu 7.10 system. I wanted tv output on my Thinkpad T42 with Radeon 9600M so I switched from the radeon drivers and compiz-fusion to fglrx drivers with xgl and compiz-fusion and dual-head xorg.conf for tv-out and all of a sudden random keypresses are repeated. Most commonly occurs in Firefox when using the down arrow to scroll, all of a sudden I end up at the bottom of the page. I can't seem to interrupt the repeat until it finishes. The issue seems to have resolved itself after I disconnected the second screen and restarted x (so there is only one connected screen). Though I also modified my xorg.conf to support horizontal scrolling and installed gsynaptics. I'm no expert by any means, but I feel like it has to do with some xorg.conf setting. When setting up dual screens I tried to use aticonfig to get things started, but I couldn't figure it out so I modified my xorg.conf manually. maybe aticonfig is the culprit? Will attach xorg.conf if requested. Will post back if problem recurs without second screen attached.
