bug 91230 is a report from somebody else again. It's not a good idea to "jump on the most active bug", you need to stay with *the* bug that fits. If you are the slightest bit unsure as to which one that is, open your own bug. You can always mark it as a dupe once everybody fully understands what is going on.
I don't particularly mind you reporting your issue with an arch kernel. I think Launchpad even does support that distribution. But trying out Ubuntu does not necessarily entail reinstallation. Try booting a live CD or live USB. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveCD
