Its plausible that what we have now is actually a better overall tradeoff when you consider how mutable bugs are with respect to security and so forth. OTOH the offline aspect is important too. Possibly a tool that does a rich sync and lets you triage with complete metadata rather than email would be useful and better than changing how attachments in mail notifications are handled.
