Have you tried to duplicate this with a different project such as one of the sample projects? I cannot duplicate the failure with the head of the current 4.0 stable branch or the head of the master branch. There are no 3D viewer bug fixes in the 4.0 branch since 4.0.4 so this bug should still exist if it isn't specific to your system or your project.
