Oh, indeed.
I can't seem either to do so but the reason seems to be a
misconfiguration in the perl linking in my (fink-based) inkscape
installation. I had downloaded ill2svg separately from the inkscape web-
site.
Why not try to run ill2svg directly ?
Among others, the eps file is with Mac line-endings, and the line-endings
are not specifiable in the current import dialog of Inkscape.
The command that worked for me are the following:
ill2svg.pl -l mac /tmp/ill-text-troubles/Table_Salle_A_manger_harico.eps
> /tmp/blop.svg
inkscape /tmp/blop.svg
Interestingly, there's a load of errors afterwards in inkscape such as
WARNING **: No style property value at: stroke-width:
(maybe due to the "hairline width" of several of my strokes ?
1. ./ill2svg.pl
ill-text-troubles/Table_Salle_A_manger_harico.eps > foo.svg
2. edit foo.svg and delete the </text> and </tspan>
elements at the end of the file
3. inkscape foo.svg
In theory, ill2svg.pl ought to be able to read this file
correctly, however it does not. I'm not exactly sure why,
but it looks like a bit of work to fix.
I think the proper solution to this is to use Scribus. I
did this:
1. Start scribus
2. Import the EPS file
3. Export as SVG
4. Load into Inkscape
It worked fine.
In my opinion the best solution to this is to rip out
ill2svg.pl and replace it with calls either to scribus
itself or with code from the scribus library.
I can't reproduce, as I can't get the EPS file to open in
Inkscape at all using either the .39 build or a build from
10/22 on Win32.
