Thanks a lot for the hint, this comes close but does not really resolve the issue for two reasons:

First, it is complicated to make it look right. There is a lot of fiddling involved to get the arrow to be close to the correct shape, and even then, it is not really bendy. The arrowhead lines are still straight, but shifted in a way that seems to accommodate the line. Not really what I meant.

Second, it is counterintuitive in its use. First you have to separate the arrowhead from the line, then apply the Pattern on Path, then fiddle around to get the arrow into shape. The arrowhead property basically is lost in the process: If you need any modification of the arrow (size, arrow type), you basically have to start over. What I had in mind was a simple checkbox in the marker menu (maybe with a parameter for fine-tuning) that allows bendy markers with only a click.

Admittedly, this feature is a small issue, but then again, which other vector graphics tool has a functionality like that? I feel that this is a prestige feature that could be useful, aka "Hey, how did you do these bendy arrows?"
