[wish:] bendable markers

Bug Description

This is a small wish which might not warrant a blueprint:

A nice, although, low priority feature would be markers (especially arrow heads) that bend according to the corresponding line. So if a curved line ends with a marker, the marker would not only be aligned with the curve end, but rather bent like the curve.

Attached is a (admittedly ugly) draft how such a bent arrow could look.

Have you tried Pattern on Path? Thats a Live path effect that seem to do what you're asking for.

Thanks a lot for the hint, this comes close but does not really resolve the issue for two reasons:

First, it is complicated to make it look right. There is a lot of fiddling involved to get the arrow to be close to the correct shape, and even then, it is not really bendy. The arrowhead lines are still straight, but shifted in a way that seems to accommodate the line. Not really what I meant.

Second, it is counterintuitive in its use. First you have to separate the arrowhead from the line, then apply the Pattern on Path, then fiddle around to get the arrow into shape. The arrowhead property basically is lost in the process: If you need any modification of the arrow (size, arrow type), you basically have to start over. What I had in mind was a simple checkbox in the marker menu (maybe with a parameter for fine-tuning) that allows bendy markers with only a click.

Admittedly, this feature is a small issue, but then again, which other vector graphics tool has a functionality like that? I feel that this is a prestige feature that could be useful, aka "Hey, how did you do these bendy arrows?"

This should be implemented as a Stroke to Path live path effect combined with a Bend effect - this way you would get the result you want.

could you explain that in more detail, please? or post a hint to a more detailed description?

I want to achieve this as well, but I don't get it right...

Hello Tobiwan.

What exactly do you need?

I think the description is quite self-explanatory and I even added a
picture.

Could you please give me more information about what is unclear or what
kind of information is missing?

Thanks.
