Comment 1 for bug 239631

I am having the same problem with music fonts I use. The fonts are part of the Sibelius package and come with their scorch browser plugin. If you want to play you can get a copy from here :-

If you install the plugin it will also install the necessary fonts.

I see exactly the same problem described above. PDFs created using these fonts show odd characters when loaded into Inkscape and some of the music fonts (Opus & Inkpen) do not show up in the Inkscape font menu. If you want an example of a PDF that doesn't work there is one here :-

Whilst there are probably similar errors in the fonts to those mentioned in the original post, it would be nice if Inkscape was a bit more friendly about handling those errors. I haven't noticed any problems with other software using these fonts.
