I can reproduce this with 0.48.4 r9939 on Linux. The nodes which were inserted in the second insertion step are 'dancing' by around 2 pixels for a circle of 400px diameter on my screen when I turn the circle by 45°.

Perhaps this is somehow caused by the fact that the first set of newly inserted nodes already is not completely symmetrical (the handles I mean, their location is symmetrical as far as I can see)? Seems like an interpolation issue to me... It's no longer a circle, so interpolation happens. Is this amount of inaccuracy to be expected or is it relevant?...
