crash not reproduced on Windows 7 (32 bit), Inkscape 0.48.3.1, resulting svg file is attached.

could you specify how you opened the file, there are two wmf methods, one called Windows Metafiles (Windows specific internal method) and one called Windows Metafile (Python Uniconvertor). I used the Windows specific internal method; the Uniconvertor method gave me no text at all.

what was the crash message?
