I had similar issue with my Photosmart Premium C309g on Ubuntu 9.10 it can be fixed by adding the following line to /etc/udev/rules.d/40-hplip.rules
ATTRS{idVendor}=="03f0", ATTRS{idProduct}=="7d11", GROUP="lp", ENV{ID_HPLIP}="1"
maybe using "??11" for idProduct can solve this issue for other Photosmart AIOs, too.
