vonibenz, the duplex option in HPLIP is only for printers with a real duplex unit, not for manual duplex, which means printing odd pages first, turning the deck of printed paper over and printing the even pages on the back sides. AFAIK, manual duplex is not (yet) supported by HPLIP.
