Bug:
I'm using gm-notify 0.12.2-1~ppa1 and cannot log in to my Google Apps account.

I use "<email address hidden>" as the username, with the correct password. This fails with the error log below.

It appears that you are trying to use Jabber, but there is no Jabber server running for my Google Apps account. It starts working again when I enable Google Talk, but some people may be unable to do this.
