+1 I'm for number 2, excellent work Camilo !

Some aspects should be improved and it's perfect :

1) Remove those rings, they look out of place and they aren't really needed.
2) Remove the border around. If you look at the other elementary icons you won't find such a thick border.
3) The dark brown margin at the left should have a light gradient on it, this solid brown doesn't look good at all.
Take a look at dexter contact's icon.

4) A Bonus would be to make the book's material look like real leather for example like this :

BTW, Scratch is looking for a new icon too. The actual icon looks like a note taking app.
