I'm affraid it doesn't always work. I can resize this way the "toolbox" window in GIMP but doing the same with layer window is impossible.

1. Not only the windows are created larger than the screen. A big problem is also menu bar integration, for which often the upper panel is to short. Because of that clock etc. covers some menu elements that we are unable to use. Someone didn't take into account that there are programs with longer menu than the one from Firefox or Nautilus.

I heard that Unity was designed for netbooks and the problems described above make using my 10,1inch mashine impossible. The screen resolution is 1024:600 (16:9).

2. Now I noticed that I can resize a window clicking right mouse button on its title bar and choosing a resize option. the computer however changes the window size either only horizontally or only vertically. Which way the window will be resized depends on the first move made after clicking "change size" option. if the mouse is moved horizontally there is no possibility of changing the size vertically. That's why after two months I finally managed to see GIMP fully on the screen. We may close the bug here and now but You should think about other users who just wont be able to work with Unity because it's use is very unintuitive. Resizing the layer window in GIMP "using the resizable grip area on the top of the window" is impossible.

The problem of menu integration stays however open and unsolved.
