The Skype issue is now also solved for me, either with the Libv4l ppa as I suggested or with v4l-utils from oneiric-proposed (version 0.8.5-3ubuntu2). I think I created my own problem with skype because the first time I installed it, it wasn't from the partner repositories but directly from the skype website as I used to do it before, and probably that created a dependencies problem. After entirely removing skype and installing the skype:i386 package, I get a perfect image using:

I strongly recommend to download skype from the partner repositories not to make the same mistake as me.
