Both conversion methods use the same code. I suggest you select all book
sin your library, click the edit metadata button choose "Remove stored
conversion settings for selected books" and then click OK.

Then go to Preferences->Output options->MOBI Output and make sure it
says: MOBI file type: old

Now convert any book you like to MOBI and test it on your Kindle.
