However, my experience with the fglrx has been awful. Yes I could suspend with 3d enabled, but... only a couple times. The time of resume after every suspend grew exponentially. The other day I waited for the system to wake up for more than 18 minutes! Right now (with radeon) I disabled 3d and have a perfect suspend with the 99% of suspend taking no more than 2 secs. Performance of Xvid and other issues like cpu usage with video, audacious have always been poor plus vt's can disappear all of a sudden. Radeon also has other issues, but not so many as fglrx does. I would not recommend using fglrx!
The best solution for the future is just keep far away from the infamous red tag saying "ATI".
