Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in clementine (Ubuntu):

Like I wrote in bug #913218 (duplicate of this) ...:

The solution described in the bug-report (a link to the ubuntu-forums) is very tricky for people that are not used to work with a terminal or editor.

Ubuntu-Tweak instead allows you to choose a custom command for a file type, which you cannot do any more in the 11.10 (Gnome 3) environment.

I went to the Ubuntu-Tweak website. It apparently isn't available for 11.10 as yet. Will it be safe to use in 11.10?

As far as I can tell you, I am using it under 11.10 and had not problems so far - package management didn't change though ;)

For people that can edit files and are not scary to mess things up (always make a backup of the files you like to edit) in this post http://askubuntu.com/a/32919/15917 I found the answer I looked for a long time. There I simply add the "whateverprogram.destop" file to the "~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list" [Added Associations]-section, restart nautilus and it works.

This also works with for my wine apps.desktop files, which where not recognized by the system any more (and could not be added manually by the ubuntu-tweak software either).
