Plasma crashes on Shutdown

[tdn]

After installing 11.10, Plasma crashes every time I shutdown from the plasma panel. This is extremely annoying.
Also, if I just start a terminal and type 'sudo halt', it comes further, but hangs during the shutdown process so that I must press and hold powerbutton to have it shut off.

Please test such basic functionality before release.

line 83 is the end of the destructor. line 82 is the middle of it. it is the object (0x95d7938) in both frames of the backtrace. which means that the object is deleting itself via an automatic mechanism (QObject or QGraphicsItem deletion)

are you able to repeat this? (note that you can simulate a shutdown with `kquitapp plasma-desktop`) if so, is there a set of steps needed to reproduce? do you have some specific settings for the tasks widget? is it using multiple rows of buttons on the panels? did you have a group expanded?

The problems started after upgrading from KDE SC 4.6 to 4.7.

The problem seems to disappear after performing the following steps:
- (Log out, if you have an open session)
- Delete the folder .kde4 (by using tty0-6)
- log in again

Are you making progress, or is the recommendation to go back to KDE3?
I said, "3" because I was told the only way to fix the 4.6 problems was
to go to 4.7. That's not working either and I'm not seeing evidence of
progress, so I am left wondering.....

The applications in the taskbar were ignoring the row settings row settings. An invisible row was pushing the applications on another line (even though it was configured to use a single line only). Adding/removing more rows didn't remove the empty line occupying the taskbar.

The behaviour of 'sudo halt' is intended, it was long broken and now does what it's supposed to do, HALT the machine instead of powering it off. If you want to power the system off, please use 'sudo poweroff' or 'sudo shutdown -h -P now' as kdm does now.

Please upgrade your installation, this is fixed in KDE 4.7.4 already as the bug information tells you.
