Bug Description

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

From time to time, the deskbar gets corrupted and will stop working. The window opens, but if i type anything nothing appears.
I suspect is some extension misbehaving, as usually in the previous search deskbar will get stuck on some subword of wathever i was writing.
If i remove and re-add the applet it starts working again. But everytime i remove and re-add it take a lot of time for it get responsive (about half a minute). It appears inmediately in the bar,but won't accept any input for a while.

Interpid, updated from Hardy.
Default extensions plus calculator, 2.24.1-0ubuntu1.

I've been trying to reproduce it, but it just happens somtimes, One thing i found is that when the tracker is indexing, deskbar get very sluggish. Idisabled tracker-live extension, and it improved a lot. This could something to do, as as i mentioned, the last thing deskbar does before locking is bog down on some search to not recover again.

The second isue i think is an unrelated bug: deskbar will consistently delay between loading and starting to work for about a half minute, without extra cpu load or anything. If i press alt-f3 as soon as the icon appears, it will do nothing until it popups much later. After that it will ac normally. The same with clicking the icon. Should i open a separate ticket?

I actually think it was the live tracker plugin. Since disabling it tracker didn't lock once.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

It still crashes at random. Tough a good way to trigger it is to paste a
longish word in the search field. It starts grinding the disk, and then
starts popping crash windows. Usually complaining about:

----------------
  File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/deskbar/ui
/cuemiac/CuemiacTreeView.py", line 188, in __get_match_action_for_cell
    cell.set_property ("has-more-actions", len(match.get_actions()) > 1)
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_actions'
----------------

(I just triggered it pasting "launchpad" into the search field).

Sometimes it crashes just out of typing too fast into the box. Then i
cancel them (there's always a secuence of crash windows), and then it
continues working.

To my understanding this bug is not fixed, as 2.25.91 is not available in Intrepid Ibex
