Bug Description

Have GPU lockups every time I play Spring RTS with the Zero-K mod. Usually about 15-20 minutes into the game. This did not occur before upgrading to Oneiric. Have not tried the game with other mods yet or different options. But seems to be a general GPU problem because I also seem to experience major issues when I turn on GPU rendering in the Chrome browser

[Problem]
Easily reproduced gpu hang when playing video game. Regression seen starting after upgrading to the 3.0.0 kernel.

Hi, just checking back in for status. Have you seen more of these lockups since the release or within the last few weeks?

Hi Bryce. I am still having lockups but I suspect there may be a hardware
issue involved. I am on a laptop and the heat being given off by the intel
gpu appears to be excessive and progressively getting worse. I am not sure,
but this may just be an isolated hardware issue on my side. I will try to
test this by reapplying the heatsink+thermal grease and see if that makes a
difference. If that mitigates my issue I will report back.

Since the last comment, I have attempted to lock up the system in the same manner originally described in this bug. The screen does not go black and lock up and require a restart as before. Before, about one out of two times on the lock ups the screen would go black and no signal would appear to go to the external monitor I was using or the laptop screen itself and require a restart. I believe the "lockups" I was referencing in the last comment, may have been an issue associated to the game itself or a hardware overheating issue because the screen no longer goes blank but the game itself slows down and crashes. But, unlike before, I have not had to restart the system on the last few attempts to cause the original problem.

Hi Michael

You mentioned that now the game slows down and crashes. Can you please provide the logs from the game crashing?

For the past week the game has been unplayable for me. I was on version 0.82.7.1 of the game. Extremely slow to the point where i could not even try playing it (~ 2-3 frames per second). I did not save any game logs at this point unfortunately.

I updated to the new version (Spring 83.0) yesterday to see if there would be any difference. It now appears even worse and will crash after loading. I will try a few different things to get back to a playable state so I can reproduce the lockups I had. Though, the current issue appears to be different from the original bug report, I have attached the game log from my latest attempt on Spring 83.0.

I have updated to the latest version of the Spring RTS engine (85.0) and updated Ubuntu 11.10 daily and have not had any system lockups as described in the bug write up for at least a month or two. I have had some corruption in the video after extended use of a graphic intensive program but this does not appear to be the same issue (will write this up in a separate bug if I figure out how to reliably reproduce). As far as I am concerned, this bug appears to be FIXED. Thank you guys!
