Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

I recently had to connect to a _cabled_ network with 802.1x authentication. Currently in ubuntu this functionality is provided by the package xsupplicant, however its setup is rather difficult. Moreover, this package is not installed by default, so that I actually could not connect to the network at all. Network-manager should support this kind of authentication also over cabled network by default.

Thanks for your suggestion. You might want to suggest it upstream as well: http://www.gnome.org/projects/NetworkManager/

Highly pedantic, but the tab in Lucid has the casing wrong, using "802.1x" and not "802.1X".
